For those of you who love borrowing eBooks and eAudiobooks through GPPL but get frustrated with the old OverDrive app, OverDrive just released a new and updated version that streamlines the process and makes it much, much easier. The Libby app offers a single log-in process where you choose your library, enter your barcode and PIN, and start borrowing. Gone are the days where you need to sign in with your library card every time you borrow an item. Libby remembers it for you.
GPPL continues to offer the same great eBook and eAudiobook collection through OverDrive, with new material every month. The old OverDrive app still works, though they will be slowly phasing it out. It’s much better with font customization options while reading, so people who enjoy OverDrive due to print disabilities might want to hold off on upgrading.
With Libby you can sign in to multiple libraries with one or more card from each library. You can either download eBooks and eAudiobooks, or stream them to save space. All your loans and holds are kept on a single shelf, so there’s no more back and forth between what you have out and what you have a hold on. Libby cuts down on the back and forth between borrowing and reading as well, making it far less clunky to borrow a book and begin reading it
To give Libby a try, simply download it for free through your app store. It is also installed on the devices on GPPL’s new Device Bar for you to come in and test out on your own.
