Teen Spring Break Challenge: VLOGs

As part of the Teen Spring Break Challenge, the Teen Advisory Board (TAB) is challenging participants to spend one hour of their spring break watching a vlog.  A vlog, or video blog, is a blog which is told primarily in video form.  Below are some vlogs picked by TAB, all of which can be found on YouTube.

ASAPScience

ASAPScience is a vlog channel created by two Canadian science geeks, and covers various science related topics.  Each vlog’s scientific topic is explained using narration, drawings, and song.

Geek Gurl Diaries

Geek Gurl Diaries is a collection of vlogs all about making, using, and learning technology.  The vlogs feature tutorials on everything from learning the basics in computer language, to programming, and even how to build a computer.

Good Mythical Morning

Good Mythical Morning (GMM) is a daily vlog presented in talk show style that answers burning questions such as ‘Will it ice cream?’  and ‘Can you cook steak in a dishwasher?’.  Filled with skits, challenges, and a revolving door of special guests, GMM leaves viewers in stitches.

TheDiamondMinecart

This channel features vlogs all about Minecraft.  Viewers can watch tutorials, challenges, and gameplay.

The Haunting of Sunshine Girl Network

This vlog is a supernatural horror web series, told in the style of video diaries.  The videos follow a teenage girl who moves into a new house with her mom, and quickly discovers that they may not be the only ones who live there.  The videos are her way of documenting the paranormal activity that occurs in her house.  In 2014 The Haunting of Sunshine Girl Network was adapted into a book series.

Jessethereader

This channel features YA fan Jesse as he shares book reviews of all the most popular teen books.  Viewers can watch as the host participates in various book-related internet challenges, shares book reviews and book hauls, and geeks out about YA lit in general.

Vlogbrothers

Run by the popular YA author John Green, along with his brother Hank, Vlogbrothers is a weekly vlog that promotes learning and creativity on just about every topic.  The vlogs are funny and upbeat, and cover a broad range of topics from health care to psychology.
