The Grande Prairie Public Library runs annual contests such as the Collins Writing Contest, now in its 31st year, and other contests on an irregular basis.  As new contests are scheduled, details will be added to this page.

Teens: 2 Sentence Scary Story Contest

This October, we are running our very first 2 Sentence Scary Story Contest! Teens are invited to submit their short stories (maximum of two sentences) to anytime between October 1 and October 15.

After October 15, the top 10 stories will be selected, and posted both in the library and on our social media for people to vote on the winner.

Our 1st place winner will receive a GPPL prize basket, and a $50 gift card.

The winners will be announced on Halloween.

Need some inspiration? Here are some examples of two sentence scary stories:

"You get home from a long day at school, ready to relax. You reach for the light switch, but another hand is already there."

"The people in town said a monster lived in the woods, which was ridiculous. I was the only one who lived in the woods, and I have never seen a monster."

"Only once I had walked by for a third time did I believe what I was seeing; the eyes in the painting were following me."
