GPPL Express is in the Library’s Rotary Community Room. The collection will feature familiar materials such as Blu-ray, Most Wanted, and bestsellers, as well as new and in-demand materials from across the Library.
Although services such as public computers and in-person programs will not yet be available, Library users can browse GPPL Express, collect their holds, sign up for memberships, attend online programs with GPPL Virtually Anywhere and request items from the larger collection.
GPPL’s Curbside Pickup will also continue. Library users are invited to place items on hold and then call to arrange for a pickup time. Staff will bring the materials out to one of the designated spots and place them in the backseat or trunk of the waiting vehicle.
GPPL Express will be open Monday to Friday from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10:00 am to 11:00 am will be set aside for seniors and those that may need extra time and assistance.
GPPL Stage 2 Update (June 12, 2020)
The Grande Prairie Public Library has been introducing innovative ways of serving the community since our physical location closed on March 13. Any new service offered has been heavily dependent on maintaining the safety of our patrons and staff. This will be our priority going forward.
As a part of Stage 2 of the Province’s Relaunch Strategy, we have been planning for a future re-opening. We must consider provincial guidelines and risk assessment including hygiene, restricting public spaces, and maintaining distancing. As such, we have not yet announced a date that GPPL will re-open.
In the coming weeks, we will announce when we will be able to welcome you back and what this version of GPPL will look like. Until then, continue to use our existing services such as Curbside Pickup, Curbside Printing, GPPL Virtually Anywhere programs and digital content. We hope to see you soon.
GPPL staff are available online (gppl.ca) through social media and chat and by phone from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm from Monday to Friday. If you have questions, please call GPPL at 780-532-3580.
GPPL's exterior Book Return is now open! For oversize items such as the Library of Things, please park in a spot designated for Curbside Pickup and call the number on the sign for staff to collect your item.
Items that have come due after GPPL closed on March 13 will have any late fees waived.
GPPL may be closed to the public, but we offer many services online. Don't have a membership? Get one online and get started today!
Did you know that your library offers eBooks and downloadable audiobooks? Take a look at your options and try one today! Keep up with the world through Press Reader, home to newspapers from around the world.
